Wine Help • Lineage 2 Grand Crusade cannot launch - any ideas for missing winetricks libraries from wine output?

Hi, even though I can play just fine with other private servers through wine on latest Linux Manjaro KDE, when I tried to launch the latest client of https://lineage2ertheia.com/, I play 'Launch game' the launcher goes away and then nothing happens, and this is the output.

Any idea what is going on? I can actually launch the game if I wine the L2.bin, but then when I try to create an account it tells me that 'Could not connect to the authentication server'

however sadly the behaviour is the same, the game does not launch :/ Any idea what might be going wrong? is there a windows library I could install through winetricks that might fix this?

Linux • Microsoft.net Framework missing? Dragon naturally speaking 11.5

Hi there, I'm trying to install dragon naturally speaking for several days now. My main distro is Linux Mint 19.2 but I also tried to install dragon on elementary OS Hera.

On elementary I didn't even came to the first step of the installation because I could not reach the button for manual install because of some scaling issue. So I put in my Linux Mint SSD again and everything went fine until a message said that the Microsoft .net Framework was Messing. I downloaded the Framework Installation file from the Microsoft Homepage but during the installation I was told that I had to switch something in the system controls regarding to "Windows functions". Obviously this message was meant for Windows users. So until now I was unable to install Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11.5.

In the Wine-software list it received silver rating so someone has to be successful with that.

Can you help? Sorry for my rusty english. Writing from Germany and hope everathin was understandable. Thanks in advance and best regards, jo

Linux • where do I move winetricks to

I had to reinstall everything on my Chromebook, which included wine and winetricks.

I remember the info on winehq for winetricks used to mention moving it to some system folder to be accessable system wide. On Sunday 1/18/2919 that doesn't show.

Can someone simply tell me where it was I move it to from my Downloads folder?

Can someone please explain exactly how I run a program with the development branch?

I'm on Linux Mint 19.1 64-bit
  • I uninstalled the stable branch of wine.
  • I installed the repo for FAudio.
  • I installed wine-devel (5.0~rc6~bionic) but that package apparently doesn't include any commands that I could find.
  • Then installed wine-development (3.6-1).
  • Then it tells me "it looks like wine32-development is missing, you should install it.", so I install wine32-development:i386 (3.6-1).
However I'm still getting errors about Qt5, which I read were supposed to be fixed in this version.

First I want to make clear that I am using an older version World of Warcraft, version 2.4.3.
This may be important because I have found information that WoW made a significant change at some point that affected how it works in Wine.

on Ubuntu 19.10, using Wine from Ubuntu repository

Using default everything, I can run WoW perfectly.

CODE: 

wine wow.exe
60+ FPS, everything is perfect.

I want to run multiple instances simultaneously.
wine wow.exe 2 times
I get 2 WoW windows where everything functions, except they're < 1 FPS, unplayable.
I would expect and be fine with half the normal FPS in each window, but this is much less than that.

I've tried separate WINEPREFIX for each, same result.

Is there any way I can get 2 instances that each behave as if they were the only instance running?

macOS • Error running Steam game (first time setup - directx from ue4 prerequisites)

Hello Wine users!

I am running into an issue trying to run Session: Skateboarding Sim Game in Steam with Wine on MacOS. I have installed the game successfully and when I click "Play" I get a first-time setup dialog:

Then it proceeds to try to install DirectX Runtime through UE4 Prerequisites x64:

But the setup always fails because of "invalid ACL":

I am using a 64-bit Wine wrapper (WS10WineCX64Bit18.5.0). I used winetricks to get DirectX so I'm pretty sure I already have it installed, so I'm not sure why this Steam game is asking me to download DirectX.

I tried to run DXSETUP.exe manually, but got this error:

on Ubuntu 19.10, using Wine from Ubuntu repository

Using default everything, I can run WoW perfectly.

CODE: 

wine wow.exe
60+ FPS, everything is perfect.

I want to run multiple instances simultaneously.
wine wow.exe 2 times
I get 2 WoW windows where everything functions, except they're < 1 FPS, unplayable.
I would expect and be fine with half the normal FPS in each window, but this is much less than that.

I've tried separate WINEPREFIX for each, same result.

Is there any way I can get 2 instances that each behave as if they were the only instance running?

Linux • Unable to install

Following the directions here: https://wiki.winehq.org/Ubuntu to install on KUbuntu 18.04. It all goes fine until I do:

sudo apt install --install-recommends winehq-stable

I get this:

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done

or been moved out of Incoming.

wine-stable : Depends: wine-stable-amd64 (= 4.0.3~bionic) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: wine-stable-i386 (= 4.0.3~bionic)

When I install wine-staging-amd64 manually it goes okay, but wine-staging-i386 does not. So I tried this:

sudo aptitude why-not --with-recommends wine-stable-i386:i386

Not currently installed
The candidate version 4.0.3~bionic has priority optional
No dependencies require to remove wine-stable-i386:i386

I don't know where to go from here. Any help is appreciated.

Linux • DirectX 11 for WINE.

Recently I've tried running the standalone GOG version of "Chook and Sosik Walk the Plank" on my 2012 ASUS laptop. It is a Dual Operating System device, the Linux mode in question here is Puppy Linux 6.0.5 Tahrpup. The version of WINE here is an older one, but runs most else.

The game always gives a "DirectX 11" error message.

I tried the trick of directly installing DirectX 11. The files seem to be present and the installation seemed to go through nicely, but nothing has changed.

What is wrong here? Note that the game works perfectly in Windows 8 mode.

Linux • Calibration Xbox1 controller

i have a problem whit an xbox1 (no 360) controller: games are unplayable because L/R trigger axis need a calibration but i can't undestand how do it.

EDIT:
i "solved" disabling L/R trigger axis with jstest-gtk on linux (it is impossible to calibration also in linux).

It's a fresh installation of wine. The same problems occurs on 4.0.3.
