Linux • Unable to install Parashara's Light [No window after temporary installation]

Usually Parashara's Light 7 first extract temporary files and then start main installation, but in my case once temporary installation completed then no post installation window appear and with that I m also unable to find temp installation files to on .wine/drive_c :?

Is there any other method or command I m missing
I use to execute below command
$ wine Setup.exe

I have attached temporary installation windows image as a reference


Please let me know if you need anymore file for resolving this issue. :D

Wine Help • Fl Studio 20 Stuck on Logo [OpenSUSE 15.2]

So I installed FL Studio 20 through wine, but it doesn't work, as it gets stuck on the opening logo and doesn't actually open the program.
When I run through the command line it gives me this message:

I think it might be something to do with the

macOS • Really Need Help with full functionality of custom program

Greetings All.

I have a program that was written for the identification of moths. It is an interactive key that uses text and images to enable one to identify a moth species. The problem is that I cannot figure out how to have the jpg show up as needed in each of the key options. I can make the key work using wine, but the pictures fail to appear. The jpg files are in the proper directory along with the the .exe file and .xid and .dat files. "The key uses XID software developed by Richard Old (http://xidservices.com/). It can be run from a web-based platform or downloaded with the XID runtime software." Please advise. Thank you.

MacOS 10.13.6
Wine 5.0
Wine Bottler 1.8.6

Linux • Fedora 32 - Wine fails to start

Hi,
I have been working with this problem for couple of months now. I cannot seem to get this issue sorted out. I have 3 Fedora 31/32 machines. One of these machines stopped working after Fedora 32 upgrade. My other machine is running Wine on Fedora 32 with no issues and my Fedora 31 is also running wine without problems. Troubled system is a desktop with 3 1440p monitors, Nvidia 1070 and i5-8600k. I am not running Wayland. All tested installations are from package manager. I Have tested packages from both winehq repo and fedoras own wine repo. No success.

Wine used work on this machine. Before F32 upgrade I did test out Lutris for a short while. Not sure it that caused some conflict. This is what happens every time and with every version of the Wine which I have tried. Dump below is the version from Fedoras own repos.

Wine Help • How work LLVMpipe by Gallium with Wine?

Hi,

I'am interesting to support upper level of OpenGL that my GPU can offer through Wine. It seem be possible by CPU through the LLVMpipe Driver.

I use an old Nvidia card and don't support natively more than the 2.1 version of OpenGL. I have view online that LLVMpipe can make it upper. Someone have use it? In this case tell me about it...How use it for the Wine games or applications?

I have view LLVMpipe can be installed on Windows or Linux.

Personally a Use as host a Linux OS but don't know if I must install LLVMpipe in Wine (Windows environment) or in Linux in my case if I want to run Wine games that have a OpenGL version needing upper that the 2.1 version. Also I have installed tha package from my Linux distribution but that don't seem to be effective for now. My computer already use the GPU drivers.

I have also tried open sources "Nouveau" drivers but seem have some trouble about Dx here...

I post it in this section cause here the question it's not really about Linux himself but Wine + LLVMpipe +Gallium and host OS, how it work?

Linux • Wine 5.12 crash in my "wine - canari test game"

Manjaro just update to version 5.12. Sadly my wine preferred game, Wolfenstein Old Blood, which serve as a wine test bench just crash on start now. 5.12 is useless for me. Return to 5.11 which works beautifully.

Linux • Regression tests on '98 classics

Hi, All

I remembered those school days playing these 98 goodies: NASCAR, FIFA and TRIPLE PLAY. There are a lot more to be named of.

I think my strategy is right via regression tests, just lacking of how-tos. Could someone make a nice tutorial for everyone's delight?

I've tested wine-stable 4.10 on Ubuntu 19.10, it's a disappointment to run any FIFA titles now as I knew it. But don't worry, the world is fine, and I do believe wine still fine... just in a way no newbies can ever imagine.

My commitment to the community wouldn't change by that: Make 98 great again!

Wine Help • Running more than one fully independent and isolated wine environments on the same computer.

I've two Window's applications which need different wine versions and I want to run then at the same time. In this case, I must run two fully independent and isolated wine environments on the same computer for each of them. Any hints for the trick to achieve this aim?

Linux • Unable to bring back a windows installer when ran with wine

I'm not sure if this is a wine or DE problem, so I made a video of it, hoping it would help to determine what's causing it. When I run any windows installer for a game, I have to manually minimize all other windows in order to make the installer show up. Directly clicking on it does nothing - the active window becomes inactive but the game installer won't show up. It has been like this in the past 4 years - ever since I started using Linux.

Linux • Force Wine to run on specifc IP?

I have a server with multiple IPs and I am using Wine to try run a Windows game server on Linux, however despite setting the game server to bind to one of the IPs, it will not succeed.

Using netstat -tulpn it seems that the Wine instance binds the IP to 0.0.0.0 which is bad for my setup. So is there a way to force Wine to bind to a specific IP? (Preferably through a command, such as 'wine -ip 123.123.123.123 server.exe')

Googling around a very similar issue occurs here: https://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/ ... inding_to/ The person is having issues with the IP showing as 0.0.0.0 etc

Any help is greatly appreciated!

macOS • comctl32.dll failed to initialize

Hi,

I'm trying to run this program on Wine:

I was able to run the installer and install it, but then running the installed exe is failing with the error "comctl32.dll failed to initialize".

Things I tried:

1. Standard way

CODE: 

cd ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files\ \(x86\)/Micro\ Focus/ALM\ Explorer/wine ALM-Explorer.exe
2. With native DLL:

CODE: 

WINEDLLOVERRIDES="comctl32=n,b" wine ALM-Explorer.exe
3. With a DLL coming from my Windows laptop:

Linux • Quixel Mixer - problems with UI

hi everyone, first post here so i hope i'm not saying things that don't make sense

i tried installing Quixel Mixer, installation is all good, and the software starts (on wine 5.0.1 - kubuntu 18.04 host), but when i have to login (with the epic account) the UI will shows me scrambled text and even if i input the username and password in the correct fields, it doesn't seem to accept them, as if i typed nothing there

i just installed wine 5 specifically to try and get Mixer working, so maybe i'm missing some wine component that i have to install manually?
may be useful to know that i also have Start Trek Online installed and that one working perfectly, so wine seems to be doing great, and handling 3d as well on this machine already, the UI problem is something about Mixer only (latest version 2020.1.3)

thank you all if you can suggest solutions, or even just give a list of the extra component i should add (wine installed mono and gecko already, i think, right when i launched the Mixer installer) - before this i had the default wine in Ubuntu 18.04 (4.something), and it was working good with Star Trek Online and Mass Effect 3, but Mixer wouldn't even start the installation, that's why i did the fresh install of wine 5

Linux • A non-important question

Hello. I have a question that is not something I need before doing something, so please feel free to help others who need help now.

Background: I have a program, GedStarPro, which converts my genealogy database so it can be used by a corresponding program on my Android devices. When ever I have a need to install or reinstall wine such as a change of computers, etc., I always have to use the staging instructions. Member Bob Wya thankfully got this all working for me since I don't understand the technical side of things. Without using staging each time the program errors out when it is apparently opening a jet database. Using staging always solves this. I recently installed linux Mint 20 so I followed the focal instructions but again the program aborts until I install staging.

So, I know there is a terribly HUGE amount of things that go in to a wine release. So I also know that finding the root of this is probably like looking for a needle in a haystack, but is there anyway I can do anything - some kind of testing or tracing or something that could help track this? I'm afraid someday whatever it is that works in staging but not in the "normal release" might disappear and then my program would never run again.

I know this is not important in the overall world of wine and all the effort it takes just to give us a wonderful tool. If it is something someone may want to look at sometime I would be more than happy to do what ever I can. I'm a simple guy so it would step-by-step instructions but I'm more the willing to help.

Linux • Keystroke capturing in Mint 19.3

I got Wine from Mint's software manager (4.0). Everytime I open wine, this input box shows up and capture most of my keystrokes (except for arrow keys, ctrl, alt, z, x, c and the lower key row for some reason) (see attached). That makes it impossible to run any game or program that uses wasd. This is really odd behavior and I'm really not sure where to begin to search for help. I'm new to Wine and Linux in general so please point me where to go if this is already fixed.

Wine Help • GedSite 3.06 under Wine 5.12 on Ubuntu 20.04

I had previously installed GedSite 3.03 and this ran perfectly under 'Wine' development for about one year. I use the development branch because it solved an issue running RootsMagic 7.6.3 under 'Wine'. Subsequently, GedSite was upgraded to GedSite 3.06 and now the application fails under 'Wine' (it works fine on Windows 10.) Regression to earlier version of Wine has not worked for me.

The application has a dependency on dotnet 4.7.1 and I followed the procedure outlined to manually install with winetricks. I verified that dotnet 4.7.1 was correctly installed with the verification program following the wine instructions.

I installed the actual application after the above steps with this: `env WINEPREFIX=$HOME/.winedotnet wine ~/Downloads/gs3.06.exe`

I use this to launch the application: `env WINEPREFIX="$HOME/.winedotnet" wine C:\\windows\\command\\start.exe /Unix $HOME/.winedotnet/dosdevices/c:/ProgramData/Microsoft/Windows/Start\ Menu/Programs/GedSite\ 3.lnk`

The application starts immediately after initial install but fails during data load: pop-up window. On subsequent launches it fails immediately pop-up window indicates same error `Telerik.WinControls.UI.RadMenuItem threw an exception`

I hadn't got that far before and Telerik.WinControls.UI.RadMenuItem threw an exception. I was told by application vendor likely cause was a missing font. I copied all the fonts from Windows 10 in Windows\Fonts to `~/.winedonet/c_drive/windows/fonts`, obviously that hasn't completely solved the issue.

Can anyone help?
