Wine Help • INTERNAL ERROR: cannot create temporary directory

Hello.

I have been trying to use Wine 5.0 for MacOS 10.15.7 to install https://www.fightcade.com/

After installing the Exe and open the application, it starts to boot up and then it says this:

Image

I think it has something to do with not having permissions to create a directory folder upon starting the application.
If anyone can give me a clue on what to do, I would be forever grateful.

Thanks!

Linux • Program can't connect to network. (5.22 Staging) → 01b4:fixme:netprofm:connection_GetAdapterId

Hello,

I installed a german tax software called "WISO (Steuer) Sparbuch 2021" in a fresh WINEARCH=32 Wineprefix (64bit caused problems), set native - builtin overrides for msvcp140 and 140_1 dlls and installed corefonts. → Using wine-staging 5.22.

The program works fine, but it can't connect to the internet. Pinging 8.8.8.8 in cmd in the same prefix works fine though.
When I run the program from zsh it shows this message a lot:

CODE:

01b4:fixme:netprofm:connection_GetAdapterId 1823AB38, 22DEDAD8

I piped the program output for about 5 seconds in a textfile and had about 2 million lines of this message:

https://pastebin.com/AitcmnNi

Program in Htop:
https://i.imgur.com/l5eo1oW.png

Can I fix this by doing some additional overrides? (I tried installing ie7 and ie8 but it didn't help…)

~Thanks in advance

Linux • Run an Application without administator privileges

Wine automatically runs applications with administrator privileges.

For an application that i'm trying to install, I constantly get the message:
Please install using a normal amount instead of an administrator account.

Is it possible to disable administrator privileges in wine? If so, how?

Thanks in advance!

Linux • Good timing to start a non-GUI program on OS boot-up

Hello,

I'm trying to start a non-GUI program on OS boot up and before GDM user logon.
(I am using GNOME based RHEL 8. My purpose is start a WINE based .NET program in a remote location such as factories.)

When I start the program with a shell script for chkconfig command.
The program itself worked correctly.
(Memo: I used "sudo -u <user> <command>" shell command to start the program with an user privilege.)

But when I start a GUI-based wine program after the logon via GNOME(gdm),
It displays the following message and failed.

CODE:

$ winecfg0150:err:winediag:nodrv_CreateWindow Application tried to create a window, but no driver could be loaded.0150:err:winediag:nodrv_CreateWindow Make sure that your X server is running and that $DISPLAY is set correctly.
I also confirmed "$ wine notepad.exe". It failed and displayed the same message.

I'd appreciate if somebody could give me an advice to start a non-GUI wine program on OS boot-up
before GNOME user login and still keep the functionality of GUI-based wine programs.

Are these methods considered possible?
1) Editing gdm.conf and register a shell script for pre-session.
2) Start the target program after gdm process run by systemd.
3) Before starting the non-GUI program, set DISPLAY variable manually.

I found a workaround that is to enable autologin and register the non-GUI program into the GNOME
startup applications and register the screen lock program also for password lock.
But if possible I would like to take a way not depending on the autologin for ease of user operation.

Reference:
I found the following topic and I recognize wine program requires running X server.

Linux • Wine looking for /usr/bin/../../lib32/wine/ntdll.so

$

Which translates to
/lib32
in the root directory
I can put in a link
cd /; ln -s /usr/lib32
and get over that hump, but then it starts looking for things in /lib64 in the root directory, which already exists, so I'm not touching that
So I removed the link and looking for a fix. I can see in other people's traces that it uses
/usr/bin/../lib32/wine/ntdll.so
instead of
/usr/bin/../../lib32/wine/ntdll.so
So it looks like my system(LFS) is confusing ./configure somehow
Any help appreciated!
I was previously using wine-staging-4.19 which built and installed fine.
Moved to wine-staging-5.20 to avoid world of warcraft cinematic crash.

Linux • Native Messaging Problem between linux app and wine native app (piping linux app to wine app)

$

Hello Guys,
I am using Debian 10 Buster and wine 6.0 rc1.
My problem is native messaging between linux app to wine app.
The wine app is e-signature application (arksigner windows version).
This app have also linux version, but My company's firewall denies the app. So, the linux app does NOT working.
I have installed the wine app and windows versions of web browsers on wine 6.0 rc1, and I am using the wine application this way. But, it is the problem, because I have to install windows versions of web browsers on wine!

this wine app talks web browsers via a web extension that is for web browsers. The web extension sends native messages to the wine app via Native Messaging Hostmodule.
My problem is starting here.

I have installed the web extension to linux version of web browsers and written bash script to call the wine app and called the bash script in JSON file that is used by Native Messaging Host module. So I have been able to call the wine app with this way. BUT, when i call the wine app, the wine app closes immediately. So, the wine app can not receive any messages and closes.
I have looked logs of the wine app and seen that is "taken close signal and program closed". I have searched and NOT found anything.
I have found only that this is Piping problem between wine and linux, and Winelib is necessay for solution

How must I do? How can I solve this problem?
Could anyone help?

Hi:

I am trying to debug the native notepad.exe, and I have notepad.pdb.
When I run winedbg --gdb --with-xterm ./notepad.exe , I'm sure that the notepad.pdb has loaded.
The trace like this:

I have been using ProgeCAD 2020 with wine but have recently had an issue whereby the program is no longer responsive after invoking the file dialog (File->Open or File->SaveAs).

It was working previously.

Here is the output from when the file dialog is invoked:

Linux • RadioDj with MariaDB on Slackware

$

Hi All,

I have been testing RadioDJ v2.0.0.6 and RadioDJ v2.0.2.0 Beta, found for download:

https://www.radiodj.ro/download

Using Slackware 32-bit current, MariaDB 10.5.8 on same linux machine and wine-6.0-rc5.

With installed Net. Framework 4.6.1 to 4.7.2 both versions install ok. Database install also works ok.

Normal startup leads to errors and not correctly displayed interface. As a workaround a start.bat file was created with the following in it:

@echo off
rem for RadioDj Startup Delay to allow My SQL erver to start database
TIMEOUT 45 > nul
rem starting delayed startup programs
start "RadioDj" C:\RadioDJv2\RadioDJ.exe
Exit /B

running: wine cmd in my prefix, than c:, cd radiodjv2 and start start.bat starts the software correctly.

I am able to import a folder of 65 MP3 files to the DB trough the interface.

It also works as expected except that on every song start an exception is received. When a new song is started the following is seen in the console:

Android • How to install Wine on Samsung Galaxy 7 Tablet with Android 10?

Hi to all!

I speak German and English and hope to find someone who can help me:

I'd like to use a windows writer's/author's program called "Patchwork" on my tablet (Samsung Galaxy S 7 with Android 10). The problem is that it doesn't run under android - only under linux or windows.

Is Wine a solution to that?

And if so - how can I install Wine? It wasn't as easy as I thought...

Thanks for helping me!

Linux • No video output from CMS (ddraw?)

Hi, everyone
I am trying to run video content management system software (CMS), that allows users over network to view video from security cameras and play records from archive. I have managed to launch CMS exe file successfully, but when I am trying to view video from camera (or from the archive, no matter) I see only black rectangle (1st screenshot). If run in Windows, CMS works fine, I can see all video (1st screenshot).

Also I see numerous messages in the console:

Hello,
I am trying to run the recent versions of BeamNG for some simulation purposes. This game creates it's user profile in the user's Documents folder, which by default cross mounts to the /home directory (by the way, how to disable that?)

The error looks like this:

I still believe there are some permission issues, so i tried chowning the directories, then deleting them altogether, deleting the wine prefix too and reinstalling wine (5.22). I also tried Wine 6.0 beta, same problem

I tried changing some arguments in Wine and some settings in the application itself, including to specify the "virtual filesystem" to another location, chowned to my user but i get the same error. I don't understand where that variable can come from. Do I need to run a debugger, and if so which one?
[filesystem]
; This determines where the User path is.
; This is by default or when empty below "My Documents\BeamNG.drive"
UserPath = Z:\mnt\HDD1\.....\beamng_files
P.S. I vaguely remeber that the old versions used to run fine, but unfortunately they are no use to me

P.S.2 Also I installed the necessary redistributables that it required. Could still be a missing dll. This game uses the Torque engine so if anyone has games based on this, can you check if they work? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torque_(game_engine)

Hello,
I tried to build wine 5.0 for android (arm). I installed SDK, NDK, created a toolchain:

CODE:

$NDK_ROOT/build/tools/make-standalone-toolchain.sh --platform=android-21 --install-dir=android-toolchain --toolchain=arm-linux-androideabi-4.9
Then I added the toolchain to PATH, set ANDROID_HOME, crosscompiled freetype, exported FREETYPE_CFLAGS and FREETYPE_LIBS. After that I configured wine:

CODE:

./configure --host=arm-linux-androideabi host_alias=arm-linux-androideabi --with-wine-tools=../wine-native --prefix=`pwd`/dlls/wineandroid.drv/assets CFLAGS="-O2"
Configuration ran without errors, but when I tried to make, I got that:

CODE:

make[1]: Entering directory '/home/vanyk/wine/dlls/acledit'../.././../wine-native/tools/winegcc/winegcc -o acledit.dll.so --wine-objdir ../.. --winebuild \ ../.././../wine-native/tools/winebuild/winebuild -b arm-linux-androideabi -marm -mfloat-abi=softfp \ -fPIC -fasynchronous-unwind-tables -shared acledit.spec -mno-cygwin main.o winebuild: arm-linux-androideabi-ld failed with status 1winegcc: ../.././../wine-native/tools/winebuild/winebuild failedmake[1]: *** [Makefile:194: acledit.dll.so] Error 2make[1]: Leaving directory '/home/vanyk/wine/dlls/acledit'make: *** [Makefile:8709: dlls/acledit] Error 2
When I tried to make with "sudo", I also got this:

CODE:

winebuild: cannot find the 'nm' tool
What I should do to fix this?

Thank you!

Linux • Wine HQ on Yocto

Dear all,

I found an old subject about using Wine on Yocto. Unfortunately, there were no answers and the topic is closed.
I would like to use a Windows app on a plateform on which Yocto is installed (I have no other choice), thus I would like to know wether I can use Wine between Yocto and my app.

Thanks for your feedback.
