Wine Help • EXE only works on first RUN

Hello developers,
Here's a link to the exe https://www.partypoker.com/en/download
attempts made on wine 5.0-rc3-staging, same on 4.21, 3.21 (64bit,32bit or mixed)

The PartyPoker.exe only launcehs ONCE "successfully", immediatley on fresh install.

What works:
1-After fresh install it "runs" one time, you have to reinstall to get one more buggy launch.
That crashes when minimized.

What not work:
1-You reboot pc, all goes downhill. No more lobby.
2-You minimize FULLSCREEN Lobby, you crash! No recovery from that.
3-Playonlinux stops giving additional debug info., it just stops at fixmes...
4-If you try to run it 2nd time in desktop emulation mode, you can't use it, the buttons don't work.

I don't go below windows 7, it's a waste of time, because buttons don't work below that v., in any wine I tested, then why try it in 4.x or 5.x?
If one minimizes, it crashes and becomes useless because the buttons don't work anymore to sing in.

Linux • shift+f12 program shortcut dont work on wine

intro
elfbot is a bot for tibia 8.6, everybody who plays tibia 8.6 use this, but its only for windows...
There are a lot of players in tibia 8.6 (there are a few of weblists)
I'm play a server with 2653 players online, just now
so help me could help a lot of others people

problem
elfbot works on wine, but there is a problem
when u minimize the program it don't re-open back, and u have to minimize it

the only way to re-open is pressing shift+f12
but this shortcut do not work on wine

recoursses
looking on the internet i got this:

elfbot use RegisterHotKey windows function to register hotkeys but on site:
RegisterHotKey function (winuser.h) - Win32 apps
(https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/window ... sterhotkey)

we can read this message: The F12 key is reserved for use by the debugger at all times, so it should not be registered as a hot key.
Even when you are not debugging an application, F12 is reserved in case a kernel-mode debugger or a just-in-time debugger is resident.

so elfbot can't register F12 key because it is reserved for debuggers, any compatibility mode

it is blocked inside windows kernel

there is a way to put this shift+f12 to work?

Linux • Linux Mint 19.3 Chromebook booted from microSD GEDSTARPRO

I had a previous thread on GedStarPro under wine

CODE:

https://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?t=29542
However, the circumstances have changed quite a bit and it's probably best I open a new thread because of that.

Background:

GedStarPro will read my family history file from Legacy9 (also running in wine!) and convert it to a database that is usable by the android version of GedStarPro so I can take my family history with me on my phone or tablet.

I was previously running linux Mint 18.2 on a laptop dual-booting Windows 10 and linux Mint.

Current:

I am running linux Mint 19.3 (a change from 18.2) 64-bit. However the hardware and way of running has changed quite a lot, I am running linux Mint booted and running from a microSD card on a Chromebook.

What I have done:

As per the old thread I have done the following:

1. installed wine via the instructions on WineHQ
2. installed winetricks via the instructions on WineHQ
3 . created a 32-bit wineprefix
4. loaded GedStarPro to that prefix
5. via winetricks installed mdac28
6. via winetricks installed jet40

In the previous thread this is what it took to get it running thanks to Bob Wya.

Current problem:

The program is erroring out immediately again when trying to open the database as it did until Bob provided the solution,

I hope it was ok to open a new thread on this considering how old the old thread was and how much the circumstances have changed.

Thanks in advance.

Reason for edit: wanted to add that I installed wine and winetricks.

I am trying to install Qlikview Desktop x64 Version 12.
I seen this sort of error called out in other topics and the answer seemed to be that there was a stub implemented to
let this error slide.
The actual error is "wine: Call from 0x7bc4c6e8 to unimplemented function KERNEL32.dll.VirtualAllocExNuma, aborting".
Wine version is wine-4.0.3.
Is there a way to avoid this error and install an app?

Thank you,
Eugene

Android • Making Exagear RPG better

I was interested in seeing if it was possible to add the newest version of wine to Exagear RPG on Android.

Apparently this is what Exagear consists of:
This directory contains partial snapshot of Ubuntu 12.04 i386 with preinstalled modified version of wine.

Link for wine project sources: https://github.com/mirrors/wine
Link for modified wine sources used in this image: https://github.com/Eltechs/wine

So I was just wondering if there is anything I can do to add
more functionality, compatibility, performance for more games?

Linux • Regression test: compiling Wine 2.x on Ubuntu 18.04

$

Hi everybody,

I own a game which does not run on Wine, there's a bug report on it and I am trying to help. Someone reported that the game used to run (he finished it) and became broken at some point before version 2.18 staging. I am therefore trying to do a regression test to find out what happened.

My problem is, 2.x tagged versions of Wine do not compile on my Ubuntu 18.04.
At the moment I am having a font-related issue similar to https://github.com/bobwya/bobwya/issues/17 and I am having the impression that my current system is just too far away in time from 2.x versions.

My question is: has any of you compiled those versions on recent distributions, does it make sense to even try? Is it just one library issue, or that error is just the beginning? Should I maybe get a 2016 OS to do my regression test?

Thanks :)

Linux • Help running a commercial VB6 application (accounting software)

$

Hi.

Running latest Mint 32-bit and Wine 4.0.3. Trying to run a accounting software, which I guess is made with VB6. The app is still sold and works really well, but apparently the codebase being so old has problems even with the latest version of Wine.

The author of the software says that the app has been proven to run on Wine already years ago by doing something like this:

CODE:

1. Install:http://download.microsoft.com/download/d/1/3/d13cd456-f0cf-4fb2-a17f-20afc79f8a51/DCOM98.EXE2. # wine DCOM98.EXE3. # wine wlrkdemo.exe4. # cd .wine/drive_c/wkpdemo# WINEDLLOVERRIDES="ole32,oleaut32,rpcrt4=n" wine wlrkdemo.exe
Unfortunately it does not help, I always get this weird error: "Object doesn't support this property or method (error 438)"

Could someone with the required amount of expertise try to install an run the free demo version, because I really cannot get this to work for some reason. It's only a few megs:

http://www.atsoft.fi/demo/demowk.exe

Any help highly appreciated :)

Linux • Regressive change to wine and/or winetricks broke my app

$

I had a previous thread

CODE:

https://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?t=29542
2 years ago for a problem I was having and than Bob Wya fixed for me.

I have recently had a thread open about the topic of that thread but on a Chromebook.

Both the Chromebook and a fresh load of Linux Mint on my laptop have this problem again now.

So, I reloaded Linux mint 18.2 - what I was running 2 years ago when Bob Wya got this to work.

Still the same problem now.

Basically, a 32-bit wineprefix with mdac28 then jet40 loaded via winetricks and the GedStarPro program loaded. The program fails immediately indicating it cannot open the database. This is what the original and follow up threads were about.

So, since even running the same version of Linux Mint and the same version of the program it now fails.

To me, this indicates one or both of the following:

- an update to wine (what is now bionic (??) for linux mint 19.x verses zenial (??) for linux mint 18.2 has somehow found it's way to a library, etc., loaded for the old version of wine for linux mint

- a change to winetricks has somehow messed things up.

I am obviously open to any explanation and am willing to do what ever testing someone might want done to try to find and fix this problem.

Linux • Building 32 bit wine with Vulkan support

$

0
Hello!

My distro is LFS without apt or related tools installed, but I can install *.deb files, but would rather build myself if possible.

I have successfully built 64 bit wine with vulkan support by installing the pre-built libraries from the SDK:

pkgconfig/vulkan.pc
libvulkan.so.1
libvulkan.so.1.1.130
libvulkan.so

World of Warcraft 64 bit client is working beautifully. When I try to build 32 bit wine for blizzard launcher and Hearthstone, I expectedly get "configure:23350: libvulkan and libMoltenVK 32-bit development files not found, Vulkan won't be supported."

It was a huge disappointment to find out https://vulkan.lunarg.com/sdk/home#linux did not supply 32 bit libraries like they do the 64 bit versions. So I will need to build the 32 bit versions.

So I started out attempting to build the 64 bit version of vulkan, since I know the pre-built libraries work, to start from a "safe spot" and once I am able to build 64 bit, I will then attempt to build 32 bit. (The pre-build 64 bit SDK tar ball includes the sources)

It is difficult to even determine what I do and don't need to install. It seems I definitely need Vulkan-Loader, as building that will provide

pkgconfig/vulkan.pc
libvulkan.so.1
libvulkan.so.1.1.130
libvulkan.so

which is I believe what wine is looking for when configuring/compiling. The error I'm getting building that is

In file included from /usr/src/vulkansdk-linux-x86_64-1.1.130.0/source/Vulkan-Loader/loader/loader.h:38,
from /usr/src/vulkansdk-linux-x86_64-1.1.130.0/source/Vulkan-Loader/loader/asm_offset.c:24:
/usr/src/vulkansdk-linux-x86_64-1.1.130.0/source/Vulkan-Loader/loader/generated/vk_layer_dispatch_table.h:224:5: error: unknown type name ?PFN_vkGetPhysicalDeviceToolPropertiesEXT?
PFN_vkGetPhysicalDeviceToolPropertiesEXT GetPhysicalDeviceToolPropertiesEXT;

So I though I might need to build Vulkan-ValidationLayers, but in the BUILD.md file it intentionally excludes linux 32 bit instructions, but includes them for windows 32 bit builds, so I am at a bit of a loss here, but will try to build the 64 bit versions just as a sanity check.

Also I noticed that my debian install does not have the above mentioned vulkan libraries, so I am guessing debian only uses the generated dll files and its wine versions do not need to dynamicly link to them?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Wine Help • Splitcam installation

$

I tried to install Splitcam 8.1.4.1 and when the installation almost finishes, the installer freezes at the following step:

Starte: "C:\Program Files (x86)\SplitCam\SetupProc_x64.exe" update "C:\Program Files (x86)\SplitCam\drvPkg\Win7\SplitCamAudio.inf" SplitCamAudio

I use Manjaro (inside a VM)
Splitcam seems to be a 32-bit application, if that is of any importance.

Linux • Origin (EA Games) crashing during install/update

$

Hi,

I have a problem getting the newest version of Origin to run under Wine.
Here are the facts:

Used OS: Ubuntu 19.10
Used Wine: wine-5.0-rc3 (Staging)
Winetricks: Yes
Winecfg: Set to Windows 7, no special libraries or dll overrides

What I tried:
I downloaded the installer from https://www.origin.com/deu/de-de/store/download and after changing to the download directory used

CODE:

wine OriginThinSetup.exe &> ~/Schreibtisch/o_inst_log.txt 2>&1
to start the setup. At first this seems to work fine (apart from some small font problems in one of the install windows) but after downloading the data for the update the installer crashes giving out a message about a critical error using UpdateTool.exe.

Below are the message from the terminal during the installation and the error details during the crash:
https://pastebin.com/mhiQAxPD
https://pastebin.com/g4h9D1xv

Apparently this error has existed in previous wine versions but should be gone in the newer ones
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38417
but the last successful test used an older version 4.17

Does someone have an idea what I can try to get it to run?

Linux • Limiting sounds playing at once

$

Hi all,

I am running Battlezone Redux from GOG and noticed a severe slowdown (slide show) when there was a lots of sounds playing. 31 at once. Since there was no setting in the game to fix this I went into the Wine code for mixer.c. I added a function that would stop sounds based on the most likely not needed. I put the max sounds at 20 which my computer handles fine. Here is the hack I added that is called at the end of function DSOUND_MixToPrimary()

CODE:

void stop_excess_dsound_channels (const DirectSoundDevice *device){  int i, n, c, max, mv;  IDirectSoundBufferImpl *dsb;    mv = rint (DSBVOLUME_MIN * 0.3);      /* calc lower volume */  n = 0; max = 20;  for (i = 0; i < device->nrofbuffers; i++)   {    dsb = device->buffers[i];    if (dsb->state == STATE_PLAYING) n++;  }  if (n <= max) return;    for (i = 0; i < device->nrofbuffers; i++) /* remove lower volume sounds */  {    dsb = device->buffers[i];    if (dsb->state != STATE_PLAYING) continue;    /* printf ("buffer volume = %d, mv = %d\n", dsb->volpan.lVolume, mv); */    if ((dsb->playflags & DSBPLAY_LOOPING) != 0) continue;  /* skip looping */    if (dsb->volpan.lVolume > mv) continue;    dsb->state = STATE_STOPPING;    n--;    if (n <= max) return;  }    for (i = 0; i < device->nrofbuffers; i++) /* remove sounds already played 1/2 way thru */  {    dsb = device->buffers[i];    if (dsb->state != STATE_PLAYING) continue;    if ((dsb->playflags & DSBPLAY_LOOPING) != 0) continue;  /* skip looping */        if (dsb->sec_mixpos >= (dsb->buflen >> 1))    {      dsb->state = STATE_STOPPING;      n--;      if (n <= max) return;    }  }  for (i = 0; i < device->nrofbuffers; i++)   {    dsb = device->buffers[i];    if (dsb->state != STATE_PLAYING) continue;    dsb->state = STATE_STOPPING;    n--;    if (n <= max) return;  }}
Incidentally when I used the Microsoft's dsound it seemed to do the same thing but would cull the next sound making the important ones not heard. Plus adding a lag when the sounds played.

What is even more strange is it appears that DSOUND_MixToPrimary() isn't called until there starts to be many sounds playing. DSOUND_MixToPrimary() seems to be called when they "get out of hand" so to speak.

Would it be possible to add an environment variable to specify how many sounds can play at once? Such as WINEMIXMAX.

Thanks

Hi everybody,

I'm getting the following error while compiling Wine 5-rc4 under Ubuntu 18.04:

CODE:

libFAudio 64-bit development files not found, XAudio2 won't be supported
While Wine compiles, the game I am trying to run crashes with

CODE:

I have read viewtopic.php?f=8&t=32192 and I have FAudio installed (packaged Wine 5 rc3 runs) but here I the equivalent of a -dev package.

How do I get these development files? What is Wine looking for, just the headers or what else?

Thanks :)

Linux • AncestryView not detecting CD

$

I'm trying to use a set of 12 CD's that came with my grandfather's copy of Family Tree Maker 2006. The CD set contains the Social Security Death Index for 1875-2005 IIRC. Each one has a program called AncestryView 2.6 on it which is used for viewing and searching the database. If the startup executable detects that the program is installed, it launches the existing installation. Otherwise, it installs the program and launches it. Each CD also has a .NFO file on it containing a portion of the database.

Using Wine 5.0-rc4, I'm able to install AncestryView, but when I launch it I get an error: "Please insert an Ancestry CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive." In the terminal, the only Wine debug message is

CODE:

0029:err:shell:SHGetFileInfoW pidl is null!
I've copied the first CD's image as an ISO file and extracted it to a folder. Setting that folder as a CD drive with winecfg still gives me the error message. Setting the mount point of my physical CD drive as a CD drive with winecfg gives the same result. I've also tried copying the NFO file to the Program Files folder for AncestryView and it still doesn't detect it.

What else can I do to try to make the program recognize the CD or image?
