Please, I need some turn around for the following:

I've installed utility LaserGRBL v7.14 and 7.12 that was started great, but when I try to open an image file to create a Gerber file (It is to use in an engraver/cutter laser equipment) the file converter window halts. Debug messages below in the terminal previously set with WINEDEBUG=warn+all (tried both versions, same problem. tried other file types like .bmp: same problem. In a windows computer they worked fine)

Wine Help • dmsynth stopping Hitman Codename 47 from running

$

Hello,

When trying to execute hitman codename 47 the terminal reports a line saying "0258:err:dmsynth:synth_sink_render_thread WaitForMultipleObjects returned 0" before i kill the process. Without the terminal open, this would look like a blank screen (windowed or in full screen).

I can get the program to run if I go into winecfg and disable dmsynth but then the program has no music. I've tried to use winetricks to install direct music and dmsynth but the file always returns a SHA256 error and quits.

I read multiple posts around the net with others who had some success working around this but all the options let to issues.

Any help on the issue would be appriciated.

Details:
Wine 9.0 - I tried upgrading and the install process reports i have the latest version. I know v10 is the latest on the site.
OS: Linux mint, version 20.3, version codename "Una", ubunu codename "focal".
Machine: Acer aspire 3 laptop - Core i3

Linux • Wine 10.0 Simply does not work in Fedora 41

I have tried for 3 days now and using every trick in the book, parden the pun, and Wine stable does not and will not allow me to create a 32 bit app that works totally fine in Zorin 17, but not Fedora 41, it just refuses to install 32 bit MP9 (media Player 9) but Zorin 17 will install it with not a problem.
I'm thinking wine just doesn't work in Fedora.
rm -r ~/.wine
sudo dnf install wine-core.i686
sudo dnf install winetricks
export WINEARCH=win32
wineboot --init
winetricks
did all that and no go.
Why does it install in Zorin without a hitch and not Fedora 41

Wine Help • Elsword Game no longer runs on WINE out of the Box

$

So this is rather a strange experience I'm having and I would like to know if anyone has similar experiences or tips maybe.

Starting off last year (Around August) I first dived into Linux Systems and installed my usual Game on WINE (9.0 Staging packaged by CachyOS) and at the time, it ran out of the Box without me needing to tweak anything, the experience felt the same as running it on Windows and played continuously until November.

Fast forward to now (this week) I've reinstalled my system (same distribution) now to enable dual-booting, and I'm completely unable to repeat that functioning, I first tried with the Stable 10.0 release to no avail, then I've reinstalled my system again to run the same WINE I did back then but the result is the same, somehow the game is now hanging up on different parts of the initialization process (Launcher --> Anti-Cheat load-up --> Game load-up) but never reaching even the Log-in screen (Standalone Online Game) out of the box

However, using Proton-GE as the runner, managed by Bottles, it perfectly fine loads up, and I consistently get to enter into the game using it, however performance is terrible, nothing like my first experience and I crash as soon as I try to start an activity. Regarding this I have noticed the game no longer uses my FULL RAM like it used to (it stops at around 75% where it used to top it 95%) and that's using SWAP, if I instead use ZSWAP performance is far better but data corruption and crashes still occur

Dual-booting to Windows the game runs normally (which is laggy but still playable) so I do not think my hardware is at fault at this point, I'm even wondering if the game developers just instated "A WINE check" to just make the game not launch on Linux but disregarding Proton since they do distribute on STEAM. Anyhow i would like to know if anyone has had something like this come up before? Game can be downloaded at: https://elsword.koggames.com/download/ (Free to play) by the way

Hello. When I try run any Windows app in Wine, apps cannot run or run in abnormal condition.
I'm getting this error:
wineerror_term.png
winedebug.png
and error message log:
https://pastebin.com/CrWCbmXp

I try fix it by:
1. Remove Wine and all related, and reinstall.
2. Reinstall directly from WineHQ repo.
3. Try different versions of Wine
4. Try reinstall OS (LMDE6 Faye)
5. Try other OS (KDE Neon)
6. Try other PC (AMD Based)

But that didn't help at all. Mysteriously, this happens everywhere. I don't know what else I can do
Before the LMDE6 update everything worked fine and there were no problems.

My PC:
1. ESC P55H-A2 motherboard
2. Intel Xeon X3470
3. 32 GB of DDR3 PC-1333 RAM
4. AMD RX550 Graphic card.

Linux • WinVerifyTrust not retrieving counter-signer info

$

Hi all.

Wine 10.0 on Debian 12 Bookworm

Windows DLL signed with Microsoft Authentisign.

Wine WinVerifyTrust retrieves the cert info from the signed DLL but it doesn't contain any counter-signer info.

The same code on Windows 11 does retrieve the counter-signer.

Any ideas on how to make Wine WinVerifyTrust work? Or any workarounds?

Thanks.

Linux • wine: WINEARCH is set to 'win32' but this is not supported in wow64 mode.

This is why nothing works in win32 prefix, actually nothing works at all, it's a nice size wine 10.0 but useless, does Apple own this site, because that's what they did back in Mojave, stopped 32bit software install.
No wonder I have been three days wasting my time.

Linux • hori rap v kai not detected at all in wine - works fine in jstest-gtk

Hello,

I have an old laptop I use for work, running antiX-23.1_x64-full and wine 8.0. I want to play some third strike on fightcade. Fightcade uses wine. I connect my Hori fightstick, and /dev/input/js0 lights up, jstest-gtk gives me every response I want. It uses the stick as a mouse, and X button as a mouseclick so I disable that with

Code:

Section "InputClass" Identifier "joystick catchall" MatchIsJoystick "on" MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/event*" Driver "joystick" Option "StartKeysEnabled" "False" Option "StartMouseEnabled" "False"EndSection
in /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d, as reccomended on the arch wiki.

The problems start once I try the emulator again. There's some graphics problems between fullscreen and windowed, but changing the blotter fixes that. The bigger problem is, now the stick doesn't even transmit the fake mouse input. I go into wine control joy.cpl and there's nothing there at all. Registries other people mentioned when fine-turning (already detected) joysticks also don't exist.

How do I make wine run an autodetect?

I've read the following among others:
viewtopic.php?p=144896&hilit=js0#p144896
viewtopic.php?p=83452&hilit=js0#p83452
and I wouldn't be opposed to just writing a bunch of registries, but I have no idea where to start. Or should I go about it differently?

Linux • Links 2003 with Intel Embedded GPU

Hi,

I have Links 2003 working nicely under Wine however I have to take action to limit the amount of shared memory that Wine is using for the Graphics with the Embedded GPU. This occurs with both Gen 3 and Gen 7 machines. When using an HBA with its own memory there is no problem setting it to the amount of memory the HBA has.

I have found that I have to restrict the memory allocated for Video to 128MB in Wine, set any higher than this and I get the program crashing. The system has 16GB memory so it is not short.

Any ideas as to why this is happening?

Thanks

Would anyone be able to say whether this is wine failing to detect my GPU or if it is rather a bug within the driver? Any help would be appreciated!

Wine Help • Certain panes in .NET Framework apps are completely black in X11, fine on Wayland

I'm trying to run a program, Switch Toolbox, which requires .NET Framework 4.6. I have had luck running this with no issue in the past on Ubuntu, however I'm currently using Arch with Wine 10.1 (also tested with 10.0)

In a clean 32-bit wine prefix, I ran `winetricks dotnet46 corefonts` and upon booting the tool which I placed inside of the Wine prefix itself, certain panels such as the 3d view and the UV editor show up as completely black.
wayland.png
If I unset the `DISPLAY` variable and ran it in Wayland, it works and shows everything properly.
x11.png
I initially thought this could be xWayland or my desktop environment, however testing it on native x11 KDE Plasma the same issue persisted

The viewport uses OpenGL, and running a windows port of glxgears through the same wine prefix worked just fine. In the settings of the app, both x11 and wayland report the same Open GL and GLSL version, and the output to the console looks identical with no errors.

I rebuilt the app with only 32bit support, which still worked on my windows machine, but contained the same issue through wine.

I saw someone say to use winetricks to install gdiplus, but no luck. I would use the native Wayland version but as you can see from the screenshot the bottom timeline is missing (consistently shows up in x11 and doesn't in Wayland), the window decorations are there no matter what options I do to remove them, and just an assortment of other bugs which will likely be fixed in time with development, but it hasn't yet.

Issue exists using both an intel iGPU and Nvidia dGPU. mesa and nvidia-utils are installed, along with the lib32- versions of each.

Is there any idea what could be causing this? I can provide more information on request

Hi there. Learner here - I see the Wine 10 version is out but the app store in Ubuntu says version 9 (in the debian section). Will that update to 10 eventually or should I update some other way?

Wine Help • Fallout 2 (and Fallout Sonora) on Wine has unused black space/bar on top

When playing th OG fallouts via Wine on the Raspberry Pi 5, it kinda skips a few spaces on top leaving a black unused rectangle on top. Tried "Emulate a virtual desktop" and "Allow the window manager to control the windows" but nothing works, even configuring the f2_res ini file had no success.

This is the monitor I used: https://www.waveshare.com/4inch-hdmi-lcd.htm

The original screen rotation was portrait because it was manufactured as 480x800, flipped to be portrait, so I inserted a line (which I forgot) in a startup file (which I also forgot where it was located) to rotate it to landscape. Maybe this info can help.

Linux • development branch installation questions

$

Hi All,

Fedora 41

I have a couple of question s about installation sf the development branch:

1) I currently have the rpm of the "stable" branch installed. Do I need to remove it before installing the rpm of the "development" branch? Do I need to use a new wineprefix?

2) When I decide to go back to the stable branch, do I need to remove the development branch first? Do I need to use a new wineprefix?

Many thanks,
-T

Linux • Wine solution for GeoComply?

$
0

Sportsbooks became legal in my state around one year ago, and Caesar's, etc require the use of GeoComply software on Windows or Mac to be able to place wagers.

They offer no Linux option to pass the geolocation check.

Android app requires cell connection and GPS signal, so Waydroid won't work for desktop.

Was using Fedora-RHEL for unrelated projects before this legalization happened. Switched to Windows to be able to participate, and just used WSL to get by. Need to get back to my other projects which involve tweaking the desktop with extensions in gnome, etc.

Any ideas for getting GeoComply to run and verify location under Linux?

Wine Help • Trouble with Audio-based programs after 10.0 update

$

I use WINE previously to use software guitar amps sims. Specifically Amped plugins from ML Sound Lab worked the best in my environment. Ever since the 10.0 update I have had issues. All of the Apps seemingly work fine other than it does not process audio using Pulseaudio. It recognizes my Focusrite interfaces as both an input and output as seen here.
swappy-20250210-113403.png
The only way that it outputs sound is the 'test' output button. Even before if I was having with outputs It would at least give fuzz, but my output is dead silent. Out of curiosity I tried other guitar amp sim programs with similar problems. I assumed it was a bug that would have been fixed in 10.1 and .2, but the problem remains. Is there some kind of configuration I need to reset?

Linux • Cant run old 2D game that used to work previously

There is this 2D old video game that was working previously but after an update from their part, it stopped working. Before filing a bug report Id like to know if someone has an idea of whats happening. Its worth noting that there are several variations of this game and they all seem to work properly except for this one.
I also tried moving the folders to the C folder and launching it manually from the explorer.exe and the error is the same. Link to the game: https://classic.dura-online.com/?downloads

Using the latest wine release 10.0.

From the GUI I get: FATAL ERROR: Unable to find working directory (or data.zip)

From the terminal using sudo:
