Wine Help • .NET app crashing with -0X7FFF7F7D

Application (ParallaxGen/PGPatcher - available here: https://github.com/hakasapl/PG) used to work regularly until ~2 weeks ago. Upon trying to execute it yesterday, I get the following error message:

[critical] Could not load .NET runtime, error code -0X7FFF7F7D

I have not changed any configuration in the prefix or the program. Last known working setup was on wine-staging 9.22 with matching wine-mono.

I've tried:
- clean wineprefix
- installing multiple versions of dotnet and dotnet desktop, from 4.7 up to 9 via winetricks
- downloading and running the Windows dotnet installers straight from MS via wine
- downgrading back to 9.0
- older and newer PG versions

With the same results.

Gentoo Linux, current wine-staging-10.1.
Looking forward to any insights on that issue. I can't find a single hit on that error code.

Wine Help • Photoshop has stopped working

I installed Photoshop CS2 (from Adobe site) with Wine HQ (32 bit, Windows 7) on Linux Mint 22.

After 3 days I got a message that user name, organization or serial were missing or invalid and the application must close.

I swapped file folders between Linux and Windows, It starts up exactly the same but the error message is till there. I wonder if it’s a registry problem.

Does anyone know of a workaround for this?

If not my thoughts are to remove it, try again, or use an early Photoshop Elements which possibly doesn’t require registration.

I had originally tried to use Playonlinux but after installing it through the software package Manager it did not run.

I would appreciate advice on fixing Photoshop.

Wine Help • Portable Apps

I need advice on running a portable app.

I tried using Wine to open the program but it only tries to install the app with the startup .exe file.

Is there some general method for installing the file to a location, creating a short cut and running it?

I would appreciate help with this.

Linux • Program stop running when some printers are installed

I've been facing this problem for a long time when running Global Mapper on wine.
In my previous computer (Ubuntu 20.04), every time cups found a network printer, the program would refuse to start. I was able to solve it in two ways: 1) disconnect from the network and manually remove the printers from the printer configuration, or 2) stop cups with the following commands: sudo systemctl stop cups-browsed; systemctl stop avahi-daemon, and then manually remove the printers from the printer configuration. This last method did always work, but it did most times.

Now I'm facing the same or a similar problem on Ubuntu 22.04, I haven't tested with network printers, but if I install my EPSON NX127 printer, the program will fail to start (even if the printer is not connected). But if I manually remove that printer from the printer configuration, the program runs without problems.
When it doesn't work, the error is:

It may be important to note that there is still another printer installed, but that one doesn't seem to interfere (an HP Laserjet P1005).

Any clues to solve the problem?
Given that I don't need printing. Is there a way to tell wine to do not access the printers?

At the moment it runs without music. It runs under wine. But without the background music. It is activated in the options though.

Hi there,

I have never seen a Black Screen of Death in Linux before but while running the same application based on DirectX12 i am seeing the first 'real' segmentation faults and multiple 'resets' occurring i have never considered possible. The problem here lies in 'minimum' amount of VRAM that is necessary for Terrain Tesselation of the Vulkan API that is causing 'SERIOUS' kernel panic right here.

During an attempt at playing the Elder Scrolls Online while forcing DX11 on my computer that does not support Vulkan but definitly reaches the recommended specs for this game, while playing occurred a Black Screen in Fedora Core 41 and did not post on self anymore. I had to manually reset the CMOS battery and replace it and It appeared powerstate has been disabled for my GPU. Terrain rendered after selectively applying the Vulkan Renderer.

While playing Borderlands 3 with a semi stable framerate using the Vulkan rendering which is not completely supported i had the same 'multiple kinds' of BSOD's including logging to stop logging the Kernel about 30 minutes before it happened. Once it rebooted it rebooted in a timezone ahead. <-- Considers a flaw due to the latest abolishment of Summer and Wintertime's in some regions. I just ran a update. The screen turned black and a granulated noise occurred. I had to power off the system and it did not recover initially.

I have had success in countering the problem by manually configuring the system.

I absolutely agree i need to 'get equipment' that is completely supported. My system is considered 'bad'.

What i am noticing is that Windows Applications throttleneck the CPU completely. I have not ruled out a specific cause. I have seen diverse improvements as well as fallbacks while playing. I am getting very enthousiastic to do a upgrade very soon hopefully. Wine or Steam is not able to correctly terminate the application after it is closed. This happened to Fallout4 and the Elder Scrolls Online while i was testing this.

While consorting to AMD for a solution whereas the setback and the idea of 'whatever still runs on unsupported equipment' might setback.

I installed Wine on Ubuntu 24.04 to use a little program called FAT_Reader.exe

Wine opens the program correctly but when I search for the usb drives it finds nothing.
Is it possible to make it work?

Wine Help • H&R Block 2024 Deluxe issues

I'm experiencing a maybe-problem while installing H&R Block 2024, as well as a definite problem while running it.
wine 10.0 installed via winehq-stable package on Linux Mint 22.1 (based on Ubuntu 24.04 aka Noble)

During installation I get an msiexec error popup (see attached install_screenshot.png) but the installation then appears to complete. I'm not sure if an embedded dependency is failing to install here.

After installation when I run the application I'm presented with a registration form. I enter my activation code, hit the "Activate Now" button, and get a popup asking "Please enter your activation code."

I've added console logs from installation as well as execution in console_logs.zip

Linux • 7.1 Audio in games

Hello Winr community,
I am trying, to set up 7.1 audio on my system. So far I have managed to successfully set up 5.1, but of course I am missing the other 2 rear channels. My set up is AMD GPU (RX 6700XT) connected to Denon AVR-X1700H audio video receiver over HDMI. I am running Fedora 41 with latest stable version of Wine. For testing I am using Shadow Warrior 2 purchased on GoG. 7.1 surround sound is running fine in the Linux itself, only in games such as I have mentioned, only 5.1 is detected. I tried to dig around in the winecfg, and found out that highest speakers configuration in the audio tab is 5.1, no 7.1 available. So is the 7.1 audio even possible? Linux • Reolink Client Failing to Start with Wine on Ubuntu

Hello everyone!

I would like to use Wine to run the Reolink Client on Ubuntu, but unfortunately, I haven't been able to do so. According to this, it used to be possible to run it with Wine, but all of the information on that page is for an older version of the software as well as for an older version of Wine.

Running the installer for the software worked just fine, but when I try to launch the application, it does not open and I get the following error written to the terminal:

I am using Ubuntu 24.10 oracular and installed Wine with the Ubuntu Software application. The output of

. It is worth noting that I tried installing Wine 10 using the installation instructions for Ubuntu but it also threw the same error.

Does anyone have any idea what's going on here and know what I could do to fix it? What confuses me the most about the DLL errors is that all three DLLs that fail to load are present at the locations listed.

Wine Help • Word 2010 does not print multiple copies of a document

I am currently using Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 32-bit on a Debian 11 GNU/Linux operating system with XFCE desktop environment; Most of Word's features work fine, except printing multiple copies of a document.
In the Print menu, when you indicate multiple copies, for example 5 of a document, it always ends up printing 1 copy.

I use a 32-bit wine prefix, with the Windows XP operating system and the riched20, riched32, msxml6, gdiplus, mspatcha libraries

The stable version of Wine that I use is wine-8.0.2

Hello everyone.
Could someone help me install the Clavia USB Driver in Wine?

I just bought an old (about 17 years old), but considered one of the best synthesizers in the world, Clavia Nord Modular G2.
To fully use this instrument and create your own Patches you need to connect this instrument with the software (nord modular g2 editor) which unfortunately is no longer supported and does not work on Apple Silicon.
The only option is an additional old computer with an old system.
The Nord Modular G2 Editor software itself works in Wine, but it does not connect to the instrument because I am unable to install the USB driver.
To this day, thousands of users around the world use this instrument. There is even a large community on the forums https://electro-music.com/forum/forum-43.html

Many people would be very happy if they could get this USB driver to work.
It's about Apple Silicone platforms.

I tried to run it myself, the installer itself starts but suddenly the progress bar stops.

Why does wine 10.0 keep making a 64bit prefix when I choose WINEARCH+win32 winecfg, everytime it builds a 64bit prefix, which is useless for a 32bit app ??????????

This seems to be only in Fedora as Ubuntu will make a win32 prefix, WHY DOES WINE 10.0 and UP BUILD A WIN64 PREFIX WHEN I TYPE WINEARCH=win32 ???????
It must be this site where the wine 10.0 is not compatible with Fedora 41, because the wine from the fedora repo works like it should.

How do I fix it? I have DirectX and Dxvk installed from Winetricks and tried to set render to GL and Vulkan

I'm using Wine 10.0 on macOS Sequoia 15.3.1

I see WINE has support for Vulkan using vkd3d.
Host OS has Vulkan 1.2.
How enable vkd3d ? That feature works with DXVK in same time ?

I have been using the Audio Modeling SWAM Solo Instruments on PopOS-22.04 under Wine for a while and everything was working until I upgraded to the latest SWAM version. The installer ran OK with the latest wine release (10.1 stable), however when trying to use the instruments in Reaper I get DXVK errors. Any suggestions on how to make it work?
