Wine Help • Problem with instal legimi-kindle.msi

Hi,
I downloaded, installed Wine, installed success Notepadd++.
But I have problem with install program legimi-kindle. This software I use for push ebooks from Legimi Service to Ebook reader.
So dowload msi file from http://files.legimi.com/static/installe ... kindle.msi

Linux • Starcraft 2 Works from Launcher Not Directly From .exe

Problem Statement

Important detail: The game works 100% fine when I start the BNet launcher and hit the 'Play' button from there, but it crashes when I directly launch from the command line. This is what I need help with.

I want to start SC2 through this library that can drive the game programmatically via the protobuf messages (for bot development) and that works through the actual SC2 exe file under this path:
~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/StarCraft II/Versions/Base78285/
I tried this, but it just flashes the game window for a sec and then closes it down (crash I assume but there are no errors in the terminal...):

Wine Help • Game Testers needed - list of gog games which have problems with wine

Hi,
Recently I checked a lot of titles from my gog collection if are supported well on clear wine(without DXVK, proton etc).
A lot of works fine, but some have a problems.
I'd appreciate your help in reporting bugs(needs to be checked if is not a duplicate issue).

I tested they mostly with Wine-staging 5.9 and only some with Wine-devel 5.10 on Ubuntu 20.04 and Nvidia 970

Linux • winecfg. Where is the configurations file

Hello,

When we open winecfg there are all settings we need for the wineprefix there.

My question is:
Where are this settings saved? Is there anything like a <wine.cfg> or something similar, where all this settings are listed?

I ask, because I want to "import" the settings of another prefix.

So I would like to open the txt-file where wine has saved it settings from winecfg and add the settings from the other prefix.

So my question is:
In which file does winecfg save its configuration?

Linux • winecfg: tab libraries. Differences between wine-versions

Hello,

When you open the Wine configuration, you will find a list of DLL's in the Libraries tab.

My question refers to this list. So not on what you have already selected, but on what is available for selection.

I have compared 3 lists of different winecfg from different wine-prefixes.

winecfg 4.1:
This is from a 7-Zip installation I made with PlayOnLinux.

winecfg 5.6:
This is from a Wine installation without any software installed.

winecfg 4.12
This is from a Visio installation that I did with crossover.

What is interesting: There are differences in the lists of available DLL's.
I assume that the only reason for the differences is the Wine version; and the programs installed in the corresponding prefixes have no influence.

It is interesting to note that Wine 5.6 has significantly fewer DLL's in the list. You can see that ...
1. at the scrollbar, because the middle bar is longer in version 5.6 than in version 4.1 and...
2. you can see that the 10th entry of 4.1 is already missing in 5.6. So there are more entries in the list in 4.12 than in 5.6.

Question: Why is that so?
As wine is always being developed: Shouldn't then be more and more DLL's been added with each new wine version?

Linux • Trying to run the retail 1.0 version of GTA: San Andreas, game won't boot with silentpatch mod. (Manjaro latest)

As the title says, if I try to run the game with the silentpatch mod enabled it just crashes on start and wine tells me there was a serious problem, if anyone doesn't know the silentpatch mod just adds a lot of bug fixes that weren't there for the retail pc version of GTA SA, but the most buggy part of the mod is a widescreen fix allowing you to set higher resolutions.

The mod contains 4 files in total, SilentPatchSA.asi, SilentPatchSA.ini, and vorbisFile.dll, vorbisHooked.dll, the last 2 files are what load the first 2 so if I run the game without either vorbis file the game runs fine, has anyone else experienced this or been able to run this mod with GTA sa?

Hi. I'm trying to compile and use wine on a CentOS Linux release 7.7.1908 (Core).

As far as I can tell, everything configures and compiles correctly. What I was unsure about (instructions were unclear) is whether I should have run "make install" from the wine64 or wine32 build, or from both. I've tried installing/uninstalling in several combinations, the latest of which was "install from wine32 first, then from wine64". Always the same result.

Linux • TTF Font (Droid Sans Fallback) not displaying correctly

Hello,

I'm running Wine-staging 5.6 on MX Linux 19.2 x64 with the KDE desktop environment. Most fonts show up in Wine, but one important one does not - Droid Sans Fallback. It's installed and it works in native Linux programs. I see it at

, and also at

/home/paul/.wine/drive_c/windows/Fonts/DroidSansFallbackFull.ttf
. I've also copied it over to the ~/home/.fonts folder.

But in the main program I use under Wine, theWord, it shows up only as a series of rectangles. In Wine's Notepad program, in the font selection dialog it also shows up as all rectangles in the "Sample" box, but once selected it apparently does display correctly in the main window.

I've had this problem with this font in other Linux installs, and would like to get to the root of it if possible.

Wine Help • Old game: Kyodai Mahjongg black window?

Can't seem to get this running on my new install of arch/openbox. It installs and starts with the initial startup window progress, but the main window then opens is just black. The contents appear to be there as the mouse cursor changes moving over the window.

I have this running on another machine arch/openbox, but this has an nvidia 770 running nouveau driver. I tested copying the .wine folder over with the same results. The new computer has an nvidia 1060 with the latest 440 driver. Closing the picom compositor has no effect. The working machine is a 32bit prefix, I've tried both 32 and 64bit on the new machine same result.

Starting form the command line gives these messages, but the other machine has these same messages but works fine.

I'm not too familiar with wine and how to tackle the issue, help is appreciated.

In winecfg in the library tab, there is a list, where we can select names of dll's to override dll's.

For example we can select "acledit" and set it to "Native".

1 Question:
When I set "acledit" to "native", but the native original "acledit" from windows is not in the prefix, what does wine then do?

A) When I select it and close winecfg, a warning appears, that there is a missing native acledit.
B) When I start the wine program, that needs "acledit", I get a warning directly after the start, that the native acledit is missing.
C) When I start the wine program, that needs "acledit", I get a warning, that the native acledit is missing, but only, as soon as this program needs "acledit".
D) When I start the wine program, that needs "acledit", I get no warning and the program crashes.
E) When I start the wine program, that needs "acledit", I get no warning, it just automatically uses the builtin "acledit" from wine.

2 Question:

Hello guys, I am trying to set up a configuration for this PS2 emulator to work online, but I get an error, one about C++ Runtime Error.

In order to make it go online one has to download a program called WinPcap, https://www.winpcap.org/install/
and then adding a plug-in to the PCSX2 emulator, which is a .dll file, https://drive.google.com/file/d/1tp-EYE ... UTp8X/view. Would love to hear your thoughts on this and if anybody has gotten the emulator working online please help. Thanks!

Wine Help • Corel PaintShop Pro 2020 issue

Hi !

I got Corel PaintShop Pro along with a Linux software. This is Windows only.

I tried to install it with wine but it crashes during the setup. I cannot eveni click on "report a case" or "check the application in the DB" as these links redirect to a blank page.

Linux • More simple commands for installaion on Ubuntu

on https://wiki.winehq.org/Ubuntu one can use more simple commands at least since 18.04.
Instead:

This is no more necessary since 18.04:

Linux • native dll's: Where should I place them?

Hello,

When I want to override a dll in the library tab, and this native dll is not already in my wine prefix, then I have to copy it into it.

Question:
Where should I place this native dll?
I guess, in system32 is not the right place, because here is already the builtin dll with the same name and I do not want to delete the builtin dll, because sometimes I want to override it with "native, builtin" in library tab.

So where do you experienced wine-users place your native dll's?

Linux • prefix vs. profile in "winecfg App Tab"

Hello,

Why should we make a separate prefix for any Program, when we can make separate profiles with separate dll-overrides for different programs in winecfg?

A) Most of the time it is enough just to make a separate profile in winecfg and no separate prefix is necessary.
B) Often a separate profile is not enough an we must make a separate prefix.
C) It is very seldom enough just to make a separate profile for a program. Most of the time we need a separate prefix for each program.

Linux • Corel PaintShop Pro 2020 issue

Hi !

I got Corel PaintShop Pro along with a Linux software. This is Windows only.

I tried to install it with wine but it crashes during the setup. I cannot eveni click on "report a case" or "check the application in the DB" as these links redirect to a blank page.
Attached the full trace.

Any idea ?

Linux • unusual error with wine and steam games

Hi, i am trying to play steam games on wine. But when i launch counter-strike:Global Offensive this error the screen appears and then closes... here is the debug log file below.

where can i read in depth detail about error logs generated by wine.Like some developer guide.

macOS • What are the right configurations for installing GTA V?

ok so the gta file i have has already been pre-installed, i have setup to a good point by moving the GTA pre-installed file to the windows partitions area created by my wine for proper running, but just at the final part of it running the files necessary to play GTA V i get this program error.. i've attached the screenshots of the error down below, and i'm using a macbook pro catalina 2019, thanks as i await response please.
