Hi
I followed the installation-instruction for Ubuntu/Mint from the winehq-wiki. I did this on another pc without problems; but here, i get the message:

Wine Help • Winecfg forgets drive labels

$

When I create labels for drives in winecfg (under "show advanced"), the label is forgotten as soon as I quit winecfg.

This has been a known bug since 2008:

https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13273

I'm wondering if anyone knows a workaround? It would be nice to have drive labels for my wine/windows programs.

The program nameoftheprogram.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close, we are sorry about the inconvenience.

This might be caused Buy a problem in the program or a defficiency in wine.

Website Issues • Why voting app version instead of app

$

Hi! I was wondering why in the AppDB you can vote for an application version and not for the application itself. I think that the active method is not very good because I saw apps with a lot of versions which seem not too much voted because they have votes in every versions (so they result low in ranking, because not every person votes for the same version, or a person voted many years ago and didn't change the vote to the newer version) and applications with one or two versions that are upper in ranking, although the sum of the votes from different version is lower.
What do you think? :)

Guys could you help me out. I'm trying to install a windows software called xNormals (https://xnormal.net/). But I'm encountering this error "The program dxwsetup.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close". I'm not familiar with windows ecosystem so I don't know if this some kind of library the program depends on. Is there anything I can do? I'm running Ubuntu 19.04.

Linux • Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2017) on Sparky Linux/Litrus, running into Profile issue

Hello,

1. I installed Sparky Linux Game Over edition from ISO inside Virtual Machine in VMWare to an USB Stick.

2. Restarted (real) computer (amd x2 3800+ processor) and (gt 1030 gpu) and booted in USB Stick with NOAPIC option to fix boot problems.

3. Installed sparky installer, update/upgraded system.

4. Installed nvidia drivers.

5. Try to run the game in Lutris enabled debugging/logging.

The log shows the game seems to get stuck at this point:

^^^

It seems it is missing profiles or something ?

Maybe I need to set this up somehow in sparky linux/litrus or linux ?!?

Any advise on this how to fake these windows registry keys and perhaps profiles on disk/file system ?

Further information:

Wine runner was used in Lutris.

Others might have used Steam runner in Lutris and might explain the difference.

This time "stable wine" was used.

Staging was used because somebody on youtube used that.

I will continue to try and run this game with maybe steam runner but need application ID for Battlefront 2 but I will try an older one (battlefront from 2005 application id 6060)

I came back to windows to get my steam password ! ;)

However it would be nice if the non-steam version of Battlefront 2 would work too.

Perhaps the log messages available will help with debugging this game and getting it working eventually.

Bye,
Skybuck.

Wine Help • Schedule a windows package in WINE using cron

$

Dear all, I use a vendor provided windows-based data update package. It only runs under windows and now WINE/ubuntu 18.04 LTS :D . So far so good. The software pops up a browser like windows, requires the Update button to be clicked to start, however there are some command line switches that avoid this need and using a single command line it all runs from within a single terminal in an XFCE session.

I now need to schedule this to run twice daily ... this originally seemed to be the easy part. Whilst the software runs fine under xfce+terminal, it obviously need an x environment when instatiated under cron. Is this possible? If so, what is the cleanest way to achieve this? (the software runs in an ubuntu AWS server).

Thanks in advance,

Linux • 4.20 staging breaks H264 in VideoReDo

Hi,

Linux Mint 19.2 Cinnamon
wine-4.20 (Staging)

Since VideoReDo 6 was released a couple of months ago it actually works on Wine (for the most part). I updated to 4.20 staging yesterday however and can no longer edit & save any H264 encoded files.

VRD shows the following two errors:
vrd_error.png
Looking at the VRD logs, the following entry stands out:

CODE:

FFmpeg (Error) - Error parsing AAC extradata, unable to determine samplerate.
Rolling back to 4.19 staging rsolves the problem.

Wine Help • WINE 4.20 possibly breaks Zoo Tycoon 2 Installer

$

Hello,

Not certain if this is a bug or not yet, so I decided to make a post here.

I was running the installers (using WINE 4.19 on Arch Linux) on my computer yesterday to test this game for my wife. Everything was going fine then.

I woke up and updated this morning to WINE 4.20, and the installers that I had left to go began throwing Installshield 1628 errors. Decided to try the others that actually worked with 4.19 and they also threw the errors.

I used PlayonLinux to use 4.19 to run the installers again to test, and they ran just fine.

As far as I can tell, I either need to configure 4.20 differently, or 4.20 has simply broken something with the installer.

P.S. I'm fine with running 4.19, but I wanted to bring this to light for anyone else that might see this.

macOS • RIOT Legends of Runeterra not starting

Hi! I hope to find a solution to my problem here.

I’m trying to run Legends of Runeterra on my Mac. I downloaded the latest WineStable version, I installed the game and so far everything is okay, but when I try to launch it the game simply doesn’t start. The client works, the game doesn’t. If I try to launch it manually or from the client it doesn’t make any difference.

I don’t know if Wine needs a specific patch for this game or if maybe there is a solution I can try.
Thanks!

Wine Help • Cinema 4D R20 black view area

Hello,

I have a problem with cinema 4D R20 64bit.

The program installs fine, and actually renders images (using CPU renderer) just fine, the only problem is the black viewport and a warning about lack of OpenCL support (I'm on ArchLinux with Intel GPU [UHD 620]).

wine --version
wine-4.18

Error I see in the console:

fixme:msvideo:DrawDibDraw wFlags == 0x00001000 not handled

After some googling it looks like it was fixed at some point, maybe it's some regression in wine?

Also, when I opened settings I got this warning message and I discovered that opengl is not being detected at all.

Wine cannot find MS Shell Dlg, but it is installed and substituted to Tahoma (Tahoma is installed).
What should be done by me to make text shown?
